The importance of managing an IT system is to keep the network working and the security in place. As an IT service manager you would be called upon to have a good rapport with the company’s clients as well as offering the high quality of service they request. All of these components serve to make up the qualifications needed for this position. The individual that performs this type of work is a problem solver for the customer and for computer system errors.

Course Description:

When taking a course for service management you should have some previous knowledge of computer basics. The studies will give you experience in fixing computer malfunctions over the phone or at onsite locations. The student will be given in depth studies of configuring, testing and analyzing problems within a corporate setting or as a trouble shooter for a home computer. They might also be called upon to set up communications between computers for a group meeting. At the end of this course the student will be able to tell whether the problem is user error or a more complicated hardware matter.

Course Duration:

Depending on how you decide to learn the information, the amount of time needed will vary. Many of the online courses can take a year or more, especially if you have a job that you must study around. A college or university sets their courses of study at approximately ten weeks, so if the student goes full time they could be ready to take the exam at that point.
